If you have a IRS tax debt what is the most Percentage they can garnish from your paycheck

    25% of your gross pay, which is usually 50% of your net.

    25 % unless it is for child support in which case it would be as much as 65%.

    Although they are not bound by your state or local rules, Illinois imposes a maximum of 15%.

    If 25% would be a hardship, you may be able to talk them into garnishing a lower percentage, or accepting an offer in compromise, if you provide a financial statement.
