Do any companies offer free or discounted tax services for students?

I’m a full-time college students, and it seems like there must be some way to get my taxes done cheaper than what my parents pay, which is $270 (K-1 plus the regular income forms).
Yes, I have a k-1 too.

  1. go to irs.gov…do you also have a k1…that can make it more complicated but it is doable.

  2. You can get a tax software and do it yourself.
    Check for free file sites

  3. You can try the VITA tax assistance program which provides in-person help in preparing your income tax return. The good news is that in general the volunteers will actually prepare the return for you if you can provide all of your tax-related information; the bad news is that you’ll have to get an appointment and times are limited. This is usually offered at local libraries. Presumably, as a student you won’t be over the income threshold for this program. For further information, go to:

and go to the paragraph titled “Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program”.
