that information is just as private as your personal form 1040.

No. Corporations have been afforded the same rights as individuals, including the right to privacy.
However, if the company is traded on the stock market, you should be able to find their financial statements online, usually in “prospectus” information.

No. Tax returns are confidential information between the IRS and the taxpayer. That includes Sole Proprietorships (Form 1040), Partnerships (Form 1065), and Corporations (Form 1120)
