Is EXPRESS 1040 online tax filing legitimate?

December 10th, 2011 darlees Posted in Online tax filing 1 Comment »

Question by Sourpuss: Is EXPRESS 1040 online tax filing legitimate?
I have found an online company called Express 1040 that is willing to e-file my federal tax return for me for free. I would have to pay for state taxes and any other services. I have filled out the information on it, but got nervous about the whole thing when a prompt came up asking me if I want my refund to be directly deposited to my account. Has anyone ever heard of these guys? Are they legit? Does the goverment actually offer direct deposits for your return?

Going online and doing a free file would probably be best for you. You’re not going to itemize with just $ 4800 in deductions because your standard deduction is $ 5350. Any website that does free file through the IRS would be a good one. Just go to irs.gov and find one.

If the IRS thinks they don’t have a record of it, you definitely need to re-file. Talk to the nice folks at TurboTax online, or simply print it out and mail in.

File Taxes Online – The Benefits Are Great

November 10th, 2011 darlees Posted in Online tax filing No Comments »

Spring time brings the rush for people to prepare their taxes. Taxes however can be very hectic: the filing and the preparation process can be very stressful. People also often need to go to a tax preparing professional. In recent years however, this has begun to change thanks to the internet. While the old method of doing it all by hand versus going online is still very popular, the number of people who file tax online every tax season continues to grow because they see all the benefits it has to do taxes online than to do them the old fashioned way.

Online tax filing was made easier because the hectic search for which documents to file was simplified; instead of having to go to the local IRS or a tax preparer now all the individual had to do was go online. Within a few simple clicks, they had the document and would begin to prepare the tax material.

Before this great option, people would constantly have to grab a group of files, make sure they were proper and then return home to use them. This is a very time consuming process that was better ended with e-filing.

Going to a professional to assist in preparing taxes is fine. There are still many people who do their taxes online that need professional assistance, but it is much more convenient than having to go see the accountant and bring your documents for aid on your taxes. This was an expensive process that could cost more than 0 at times. To go online and ask a tax professional for advice is much cheaper; the most it will cost around is . Not only is it cheaper, but since it is done online, it gets to the IRS faster and the tax refund will come even quicker to those who qualify for a refund.

Tax preparation may be stressful, but now it has become much less so thanks to the internet and the advances in technology society has had in the last 10 years.

It is no wonder why people have begun to file taxes online instead of following the traditional methods because it not benefits them by giving them less to worry about, but it also helps to get their tax refund sooner so they may have more money in their pocket.

I like to help people with taxes. So I wanted to write about what it is like to file taxes online.

What is the best program for online US tax (free or otherwise) filing when I have foreign income?

October 30th, 2011 darlees Posted in Online tax filing No Comments »

Question by soccerlemon: What is the best program for online US tax (free or otherwise) filing when I have foreign income?
This is the first year that I am filing taxes where I have income earned in the US and in Canada. I need to report both on my US taxes. I have tried to use the HR Block free online version, but it didn’t even support the Foreign Income Tax Credit form nor was there any help available for some of the undeciperable questions it was asking me.

Has anyone found an online tax filing program that makes this process easy? I’d even be willing to pay if the service can make this process simpler.

Best answer:

Answer by hrblockchristinew
You can convert the tax cut to a signature return. A preparer wil then check and make any corrections that are needed. They can also complete any forms needed for the foreign income. Your tax return is a little to complicated to try and complete yourself.

While filing tax in online how should we inform system regarding our visa status to claim appropriate refud?

October 16th, 2011 darlees Posted in Online tax filing 1 Comment »

Question by Roger: While filing tax in online how should we inform system regarding our visa status to claim appropriate refud?
Here is my problem. I was in J1 status till Jan – 2008. But my firm assumed that my visa status changed from J1 to H1 on Oct – 2007. They came to know about their wrong perception only late December. Will this have any impact on my tax re fund ? if so what is the best way to file my tax

Best answer:

Answer by chatsplas@sbcglobal.net
You were not legally able to work in US on a J1 Visa.

When you file your tax return it asks if you were a US citizen or resident, and the legal answer is NO. However you can file all income earned during the year, using your SSN or ITIN. The IRS expects you to file on all income received, regardless of your legal status. And they don’t report you to Immigration, either. So file!
